The International Driving Permit is a translation of national driving license into 10 languages, is issued against the applicant’s national driving license and according to his/her driving category, which allows the holder to drive outside the country of residence, The international driving permit is not valid for driving in the country of residence of the holder.
Saudi Arabia signed the Convention on Road Traffic of Vienna 1968, therefore Saudi citizens and residents holding an International Driving Permit, issued by SATA in Saudi Arabia, are allowed to drive cars in foreign countries (contracting party to the convention). The Saudi Automobile and Touring Association (SATA) is a member of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) since 1982.
